Gorgeous Weather

Here in Jackson, Saturday was beautiful - the definition of football weather, the kind of day that makes you wish you were in Athens. Instead, we were in Mississippi and we went to Wellsfest - a festival that a local church puts on. It was fun for Louisa because she got her face painted (a ladybug), got a balloon animal, played duck scoop and of course - her most favorite, eat popcorn. She had a good time, and the place was crawling with kids so she had plenty of babies to watch. Oh yeah - as we were getting ready to go, she was "helping" Byron put on his boots - just check out the picture, priceless. Later we played in the backyard of our neighbors and had a tea party with her Aunt Courtney, Dana and Savannah. Fun day.

We had another beautiful day today and we went to the park in Belhaven and saw some friends there to play with. She had a good time swinging and sliding with her friend, Lucy Neal, who is 2 months younger. Oops - forgot the camera this time!

As for developmental milestones, my child has finally started to give kisses. For all of you moms out there, you know how it instantly melts your heart to get that gooey, messy "kiss." I am loving it! It is cute too because she enjoys kissing the dogs and cat too! Ha. Until the next time something eventful occurs..............

this one's for you bec.....

okay bec, this post is just for you - since you bet it would be a month before i posted again.

ha ha. it just so happens that i am home with a sick child today, so i made the time. lula has the stomach bug, so i got the call from her school yesterday to come and pick her up. so, i have learned the "joys of motherhood" in trying to read the signs that your 18 month old is about to projectile vomit everywhere so that you can get her somewhere remotely okay. (ie. not on the sofa, mommy and daddys bed, on the sisal know the tricks) it never dawned on me until yesterday that she wouldn't automatically go to the toilet to throwup. lets just say that my gag-reflux got the test of time. she is doing well today, just recovering and trying to get over the "other end" of the bug - the diarrhea, cha cha cha.

here are some pictures from the park on sunday. we had a good time. louisa loved the big-girl swings, and would rather be in those than the "kiddie swings." imagine that. she also loved the slide and wanted to go down over and over and over again. mommy and daddy were winded leaving the park! i also took a picture of her and daddy playing at her new table and chairs.

until next time, bec. :)

so, tuesday sept. 16th mallard turned 7. for anyone who knows me, they know that my dogs (and cat) are my children as well, and it is tradition to celebrate their birthdays. although mallard had already been in the trash that day and probably didnt need anything else on his belly besides purina, we had cupcakes. he is always scared of the flame. but it was cute this year as we had louisa in her high chair finishing dinner and while byron and i sang happy birthday, she sang "wee-ooo wee-ooo" (her version of e-i-e-i-o, old mcdonald). it was humorous. cupcakes for all, happy birthday brownie!

there is also a picture of louisa worn out from one of her new favorites, playing horsie. we all know this game, when the child rides on the back of their parent while the parent endures hardwood floors to the knees, ouch! she also likes to play horsie on lucy, our gigantic black lab. she will jump on lucy's back when she is laying on the floor and bounce up and down saying her version of giddy-up which equates to "e-up, e-up." my poor animals!!

welcome to the world of blogging

okay so here is my first experience with blogging. i have finally fallen to the peer pressure and started my own. now, the biggest challenge will be updating it on a regular basis - we all know how often i send out updates. ha!

we are doing great over here in mississippi. louisa is now 18 months and still a firecracker, which an example is shown in the picture of her throwing an absolute fit in the bumbo. we went to georgia a month ago and she had her first experience at the beach. she loved it. wasnt too fond of the sand, but liked the water and wanted to chase the birds.

we took her to the circus a few weekends ago, and we had a great time. she wasnt too sure of the elephants, but loved the show with the dogs (she said "ruh ruh") the whole time. it was cute when the lights would turn off for a show, she would say "shhh night night." she thought it was time to go to sleep. she also kept mimicking the ring master when he would blow his whistle. it was a good time had by all, especially when she got popcorn and cotton candy!

here are some pictures of the monkey in the last couple of months. she has a mouth full of teeth!
